Lovers / The Moaners
Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 9:00 PM (EDT)
Durham, United States
Lovers (Portland, OR)
“Carolyn Berk’s songs are full of breathless melancholy and a sinking, infinite sadness. In them you hear hints of the circus-fuineral magic-realist run-on folk song of Neutral Milk Hotel, the dreamy twilight grandeur of Mazzy Star, Bright Eyes’ last-gasp soliloquies, and the ghost-haunted majesty of Magnetic Fields’ loneliest highways. But I’ll be damned if Berk isn’t a more entrancing spell-caster that any of them.” – The Boston Phoenix
The Moaners (Chapel Hill, NC)
and Jennyanykind join forces for a split 7", merging their love for the American South in all its boot scuffed, blue-collared glory. The Moaners offer "Petroleum", a dark blues-pop contribution, somber in depicting their familiar Gulf Coast now transformed by oil spills. Jennyanykind, who - after a 10 years hiatus - return relentless as ever with the spirited bar room rocker, "Jam Up and Jelly Tight".

But the most important thing we have is YOU. The Pinhook is YOUR place. We believe that communities thrive when there is a public place for their citizens to be themselves, whether on stage or on a barstool, relaxing or rocking out. For Durham and the Triangle, the Pinhook is that place.
You gotta make your own fun in life, but we’re here to help.
